Middleburg Bank Marshall Branch
Marshall, Virginia
Proposed New Branch
As a part of a planned revitalization set forth by the village of Marshall, located in the northern Piedmont of Virginia, Middleburg Bank's newest branch is set to become the catalyst of the town's efforts. Residing at a prominent intersection along West Main Street, the town requested that the building make a statement by including a second habitable floor for office space.
Upon that request, Middleburg Bank decided to make the statement stronger by enlisting AHSa to "LEED®" the branch's design in an environmentally-conscious direction and seek certification by the United States Green Building Council. Upon completion, geo-transfer wells and water source heat pumps will use the earth's energy for heating and cooling. Joining in that effort will be a green roof filled with indigenous plants. To conserve precious resources, AHSa plans to implement water-conserving plumbing fixtures, natural and artificial lighting, as well as recycled and rapidly renewable materials. With the potential of these strategies combined, Middleburg Bank's Marshall branch is on course to reach Gold certification.
