University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science's (UMCES) Oyster Cultivation Facilities at the Horn Point Laboratory (HPL)
The new 70' x 300' concrete pier along the Choptank River will allow UMCES's research vessels to dock and load oysters for transportation to sites in the Chesapeake Bay. The pier will serve as a foundation for 52 tanks for oyster cultivation, Mechanical and Lab Buildings. The Mech. Bldg. will house pumps, heaters, filters, and water treatment. The Lab Bldg. will house a Wet Lab, Work Area, Storage, and Restrooms.
