The Donaldson Brown Conference Center is a 2-story Colonial Revival mansion overlooking the Susquehanna River in Port Deposit, MD. Built in 1938 by Frank Donaldson Brown, an executive with DuPont and General Motors Corporation, the elaborate ornamentation and classic style distinguish this monumental dwelling within the surrounding 22-acre landscape. The property was bequeathed to the University of Maryland in 1966 and has served as a meeting and event space run by the University of Maryland Baltimore. AHSa has been involved with the property since 2011 starting with a Restoration/ Repair Feasibility Study produced on behalf of UMB. Nearly ten years later, AHSa is working with the Maryland Historical Trust on the Determination of Eligibility of the property. Current maintenance and rehabilitation projects include wood window repair, new roof cladding, exterior wood trim repair, fountain restoration, and a new fire mist system. All work will proceed following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
